The company started its operations in US in 1969. The founder who named her business after herself based it on adaptation of ancient Asian and African handmade production techniques to modern manufacturing technologies and experimenting with unique non-traditional materials. This combination of ancient methods with eco-friendly materials, has become a distinctive mark of the brand. The factory works with materials that previously seemed inapplicable in interior decoration. Currently they use 21 different materials such as luxury natural marquetry wood (Pawlonia), sparkling vinyl, and precious metals processed by a special method and applied to paper (Precious Metals), handmade aluminum, brass and copper tiles (True Metals), mother-of-pearl, glass beads, and Swarovski crystals (for example, in the model Ajiro Sunburst). All these materials are distributed among seventeen original and luxurious collections. After almost a quarter of a century, the company remains true to its traditions. Today, Maya Romanoff wall coverings create a special world of beauty in private and public interiors all around the world. The hand-crafted Weathered Walls collection is the top choice of many famous designers. The exclusive “Beadazzled Flexible Glass Bead Wallcovering” line is on display at the Cooper Hewitt design Museum in New York. |
